Limes - a student organization in Kumpula
Limes is an organisation for the students of Kumpula campus in the University of Helsinki. With ca. 2500 members Limes is the Biggest (and the Most Beautiful) of all the student organisations in the University of Helsinki. Limes was established in 1936 and since then has been an interest group for its members and offered them study, social, and cultural services. From the beginning one of our most important goals has been to improve the studying conditions and contribution of students at the departments and in the university administration. An example of the results gained is the university’s administrative reform which allowed student representation in the university administrative bodies.
The most known part of Limes’ work is the arranging of parties, sauna nights (usually in the restaurant Ida in Pohjois-Haaga), clubs, and excursions to culture and sport events.
To freshmen
Every autumn Limes offers the freshmen — and others — a book that strikes like a million study-guides: Älä Hätäile (Don’t Panic, which is currently only available in Finnish). It includes directions and advice for a new student in an understandable and beautiful form. The course descriptions from the departments of Limes subjects, Helsinki survival guide, and descriptions of the different student organizations help a new lime to start its life and studies in the University of Helsinki.
Join the organization - it's free for international students!

In addition to this we also organize the traditional freshmen camp. Limes’ clubs offer a lot of activities that you can take part in at the times announced in the calendar and the mailing lists.
